A new place for the aesthetic education and support of children and young people

Innsbruck, 25th November 2014 – ATP architects engineers’ Christmas donation 2014 is supporting the construction of a new educational workshop – a free-of-charge non-school facility for the support of young artistic and architectural talent in Innsbruck.

The Managing Directors of ATP Innsbruck, the architect DI Robert Kelca and building engineer DI Gerald Hulka, presented a symbolic check to Monika Abendstein, the leader of “bilding” and aut-chef Arno Ritter. According to Robert Kelca, “with this gesture, ATP is highlighting the importance of supporting bottom-up and non-utilitarian ways of playing which are accessible, free of charge, to all artistically interested and talented children and young people.

Established within Tyrol’s architecture center “aut. architektur und tirol” this “hothouse for creativity” will support talented young people free-of-charge and out-of-school as they discover painting, sculpture, architecture and media art.

Artists and architects help children and young people between 4 and 19 years of age to recognize and develop their creative abilities. They accompany them as their talents unfold – and in the future this work will take place in the interdisciplinary atmosphere of the new timber building. This place for aesthetic education is being created in cooperation with architecture students, private sponsors and the public purse in Innsbruck’s Rapoldi Park.

“Such opportunities have become rare in our rapid and digital world”, asserted Gerald Hulka before adding “and we wanted to do something to counter this trend.” For especially in our world of architects and engineers with its integrated design processes we need creativity, fantasy, the opportunity to express ourselves and confidence in one’s own design skills and abilities.”

The donation of 20,000 euros will help in the construction of this new “bilding” workshop, which has to be entirely funded from such contributions. In order to raise the necessary funds a ‘building brick’ action is currently taking place in the Innsbruck area. ATP encourages all the friends and supporters of this idea to take a look at the online portal of “bilding”! Donations can also be made on line.

And then perhaps this art and architecture school will inspire people in other areas...
