Belano Zuhause

Berikon, 27^th April 2015 – Groundbreaking ceremony for a retirement home and medical center near Zurich: on a beautiful spring day – which contrasted with a very gloomy weather forecast – ATP kfp Zurich was joined by 50 representatives of the municipality and client organizations as well as neighbors and other stakeholders to mark the first milestone in the construction of “Belano Zuhause” and its “Medical Center”.

Following its success in a competition, ATP kfp architects engineers (Zurich) was commissioned with the realization of the “Belano Zuhause” retirement complex. Designed as a series of volumes with a total area of 7,000 square meters, the multifunctional complex containing 35 apartments for the elderly together with communal areas and a publicly accessible medical center are to be built between now and 2016.

“The focus of the design was the creation of an innovative building with flexible apartment plans and a range of external spaces,” said Alfred Wegmann, ATP’s partner in Zürich, outlining the basic design idea.

It is possible to create apartments which range in size from 1½ to 4½ rooms. Residents enjoy views over the green park and the surrounding landscape while also participating in the life of the communal areas and the entrance courtyard. The urban layout of the complex with its range of external environments also encourages them to be active and participate in public life.
