Audi Automobile Plant G70
Completion of the central building for one of the world's largest engine plant.
Györ, Hungary, 12.06.2013– Martin Winterkorn, Chairman of the Board of the parent company Volkswagen, Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Audi Board and Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán opened the new production building for Audi A3 Limousines, which was completed within two years.
ATP architects engineers of Vienna took over the project in 2012. Kohlbecker | Architects & Engineers were responsible for the original design and planning approval. ATP Vienna was commissioned with the execution design, project implementation, site supervision and building services supervision of the central building. This is the focus of the plant: a testing and analysis center is located at ground floor level alongside quality assurance, presentation and design areas while the upper floors are home to offices and conference facilities as well as employee areas.
Huge importance was placed upon the efficient use of space and environmental protection. For example, the use of energy in the paintshop was reduced by up to 50%, allowing this energy to be used in the production area.
The new production building represents the doubling in size to around four million square meters of the engine plant which the German automobile manufacturer first opened in Hungary 20 years ago. This makes it one of the world’s largest engine plants. In future, 125.000 cars should be built annually in Györ.
