Honorable mention, urban design ideas competition

NEUEN HEIMAT TIROL and Innsbrucker Immobilien GmbH organized an urban design ideas competition for a masterplan for the Pradl Süd district. The task was to propose a solution for the high-quality and holistic development of the undeveloped area within Innsbruck’s city limits. The D&R-Studio of ATP Innsbruck received an honorable mention.

A 100 % urban lebensraum
ATP’s design acknowledges the perimeter block development to the north, while opening up as a series of rows to the south. In the heart of the development the corners of the blocks break open so that the existing greenery can flow below the “floating” buildings. The heights of these buildings are adapted to the site and the urban parameters while the scale of the elements falls towards the south. Special uses – spaces for artisans and small-scale production – are proposed, in order to invigorate the residential areas from east to west.

The reduction of energy demand and the provision of renewable energies for the residential development ensure the climate-neutral operation of the project.
