Residential park Gebersdorf

1st Prize, urban and landscape design developer competition

ATP Munich won the urban and landscape design developer competition for a residential park in Gebersdorf, Nuremberg in cooperation with Logo verde. The design concept was required to incorporate apartments and terraced houses, facilities such as a kindergarten, childcare center, after-school club and housing for senior citizens as well as integrated local services.

The complex task demanded the development of a concept for a exceptional urban district with a focus on calm and high-grade living for children and senior citizens alike. This included the creation of top quality private, communal and public open spaces. In doing this, designers were required to take account of both the existing trees and the protective strip below the overhead power line.

ATP’s design envisages a calm residential area which is protected from noise and also acts as a center for the district of Gebersdorf. Above all, the competition jury praised the well thought-out integration of the transport network. This leads to the almost instinctive organization of the district and the creation of a pedestrian promenade and an easy-to-use green corridor that merges into the forest which neighbors the district to the south close to the children’s nursery. The considerate approach to the existing trees was also viewed positively. Combined with seats, pools of water and an adjacent café-terrace this creates a central meeting place in the district where young and old can come together
