Hotel Tower
1st prize in an open, single-stage, anonymous ideas and realization competition
Our D&R Department in Vienna has won an anonymous, single-phase competition for a four-star hotel with a preliminary architectural and urban planning concept that it developed in cooperation with ATP Zagreb and with the support of ATP sustain.
ATP designed the new building in its key location at the junction of Savska and Nova Cesta in Zagreb as a gateway to the city that is engaged in an urban dialog with the adjacent Vjesnik Tower. With its excellent mix of room types, conference areas, bars, shops, and lounges, the project combines the classic hotel functions with the notion of the urban quarter. The spatial and design solution for the project reacts to the urban planning requirements in the shape of a “broken” volume. By distributing the functions vertically in two volumes – a 17-story tower and a 6-story base building – ATP’s design rises to the challenge set by the wide range of structural requirements. A sustainable building services and energy concept is designed to guarantee the energy-efficient and CO2-neutral operation of the building.
A total of 14 offices entered projects for the competition.
