Groundbreaking at BORA
Go Vertical: The new factory of BORA takes resource-saving paths: Instead of expanding in width, the building grows vertically – with a vertical structure that intelligently bundles processes and saves around 60% of space. The energy-efficient system ensures sustainable operation.
BORA is going "high up" in the construction of the new factory for high-quality kitchen appliances in Niederndorf, Tyrol: Unlike conventional methods, the manufacturing process is vertically arranged in multiple floors on top of each other. An automated high-bay warehouse is directly integrated into the building complex. This unconventional solution, with a total of around 20,000 m² GFA, saves floor space and increases energy efficiency. We celebrated the official start of construction with the laying of the foundation stone at the beginning of April.

To minimize land use, the manufacturing process is arranged vertically, i.e., on multiple floors stacked on top of each other. This results in a space savings of around 60 percent compared to the traditional, horizontal arrangement of production lines..

Responsible Use of Resources
From an energy perspective, the new factory also makes a statement: Like the existing BORA buildings, it will be equipped with a modern, energy-efficient supply system. In addition to the basic thermal groundwater usage for heating and cooling, heat recovery and PV systems, energy-efficient LED lighting, and efficient drives for internal transport and logistics are used. All measures aim at the lowest possible energy consumption - with the greatest economic efficiency and long-term, sustainable use.
A natural outdoor design with local, site-appropriate plants creates an ecologically valuable outdoor environment. Green areas improve the microclimate, promote biodiversity, and offer high-quality recreational areas for employees and visitors.
Together with ATP, we first developed an idea of how a production facility for BORA should be designed to best meet the assembly processes for various kitchen appliances. With these ideas, ATP prepared several concept studies for different locations before the final decision on the site. During this process and for the ultimate design of the factory, we greatly benefited from ATP's many years of expertise, and ultimately, we are able to realize a construction project at the vertical factory that is perfectly tailored to BORA.
