Impulses for the Shopping World
“European Shopping Places Summit” at the Swarovski Crystal Worlds
Surprise, atmosphere, encounter, and magic are the special moments of urban shopping. At the "European Shopping Places Summit" in the Swarovski Crystal Worlds, architect Christoph M. Achammer, CEO of ATP architects engineers, advocated for the return of commercial spaces to urban vitality.
In his presentation titled 'How to shape districts and shopping places,' Achammer discussed the challenge of reimagining shopping locations beyond mere functionality.
Commerce flourishes where urban life pulsates. We all want to shop comfortably and take care of necessary things as part of our daily lives. And we go where we feel comfortable. Good retail architecture gives us humans what online cannot offer: surprise, emotion, and community building.
Christoph M. Achammer
Architect, CEO

As a current example of modern retail planning at a top European level, Achammer shared his impressions of the spectacular opening of the 95,000 m2 large mall at the Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier, one of the most ambitious Mixed-Use projects in Europe, which ATP architects engineers accompanied from its office in Krakow as the lead architectural office. "This is pure urban life. Great what our team has achieved here.", said the pioneer of digital Integrated Design and emeritus Professor at TU Wien.
The European Shopping Places Summit, initiated by the Austrian Council of Shopping Places (ACSP) under the patronage of the European Council of Shopping Places (ECSP), took place for the first time at the Swarovski Crystal Worlds in Wattens and at MK Illumination in Innsbruck. Following the motto "Creating beloved places - social, sustainable & successful", leading industry experts from across Europe and approximately 130 congress participants discussed current and future challenges.
