A new economic and technical building for the IV. Department of the Bavarian Riot Police is being constructed in Nuremberg. It is intended to ensure long-term operational readiness – through functional supply, state-of-the-art technical infrastructure, and sustainable energy supply.

With an official groundbreaking ceremony, the construction of the new Economic and Technical Building of the Bereitschaftspolizei (Riot Police) in Nuremberg began. ATP Managing Director Tobias Schwarz, ATP Lead Project Manager Franziska Kühn, and their team celebrated the start of construction together with representatives from the police and politics – as the next step in the comprehensive modernization of the 212,000 m² site. The new building will replace the existing supply building and will include a large kitchen, canteen, cafeteria, conference area, and spaces for deployment catering. This will ensure daily full catering seven days a week for around 1,000 employees and responders. Completion is scheduled for 2028, with commissioning in 2029.

Modern Technology, Sustainable Energy Supply
The existing energy center is getting old and reaching its capacity limits. With the new construction, a modern technical supply center for the entire area is being created – designed for a sustainable, future-proof energy supply. In the future, a large part of the heat supply will be renewable, including a new wood chip heating system and a large photovoltaic system on the extensively greened roof.
Special emphasis is also placed on greening the building: a 580 m2 large facade area will be greened with modular pre-cultivated elements – with an immediate impact after installation.
In addition, the diaphragm wall as well as selected areas such as the wood chip building and the carport will be planted with self-climbers.
Thanks to high-quality insulation standards, passive house components in windows, and post-and-beam facade, the Building Energy Act (GEG) is undershot by 49%.
