Graz, 20.10.2025
More about the project
Completion Research and Teaching Innsbruck

With state-of-the-art workshops and hands-on learning areas, the WKO Campus in Graz becomes the new educational hotspot. In mid-October, the Center of Excellence officially began operations.

With the 'Center of Excellence,' the Styrian Chamber of Commerce is preparing for the future. After three years of construction, the state-of-the-art WIFI educational campus in Graz was ceremoniously opened. Together with WKO-Steiermark Director Karl-Heinz Dernoscheg, WKO-Steiermark President Josef Herk, as well as representatives from politics and business, Robert Kelca, Managing Director of ATP Innsbruck, and Lead Project Manager Klaus Hessenberger celebrated the completion with their team.

We now have Austria's most modern vocational training center to supply the domestic economy with the best skilled workers.

Educational Facility of the Future
In terms of urban design, the Center of Excellence confidently integrates into the existing WKO ensemble. The clear design language, combined with materials such as metal, glass, and wood, conveys technical precision and transparency. Generous green spaces reflect the park-like character of the area and create a pleasant learning environment.

The Center of Excellence continues the high-quality character of the WKO site and presents itself to the outside world with a large educational showcase.

The new building replaces a large part of the aging workshops. Modern workshops, training rooms, and training areas were created on a total of 14,300 m2 of gross floor area. After the commissioning of the first construction phase last year – with the departments of welding technology, electrical engineering, mechatronics, as well as air conditioning technology, energy, and building technology – the mobility and metal technology departments and the gastronomy training center have now moved into the new building. This is the largest educational and investment project of the Styrian Economic Chamber (WKO Steiermark) and is a significant measure to strengthen the Styrian economy.
