ATP pushes design & research

D&R Studios at five ATP offices

Innsbruck, Vienna, Munich, Frankfurt, Zurich: Since the start of the year each of the larger offices of ATP architects engineers has been home to a D&R studio. The studios research in an exclusively interdisciplinary manner, also in cooperation with universities and other external partners. Central to the results of this research and development work is the synopsis of the work of all experts. The studios address subjects which transcend the original service offerings of the individual ATP offices. “As pioneers of integrated design we are accustomed to looking out over the horizon and thinking laterally. Our decision to create D&R studios reflects our desire to use our expertise to make innovative ideas and technologies more accessible”, said ATP CEO Christoph M. Achammer.

design leadership

The internal roles of the D&R studios also look to the future. These include the selective participation in competitions with high design and technical requirements as well as the design leadership of the individual offices. As incubators they also enrich ATP’s daily integrated design work. Each studio reports directly to the Managing Director (Architecture) of the relevant office and is led by a “Head of Design”. These are Paul Ohnmacht (Innsbruck), Dario Travas (Vienna/Zagreb), Florian Beck (Munich), Klaus Schmidt (Frankfurt a. M.) and Christoph Schmid (Zurich).

sphere by ATP

The five D&R Studios will continue, in an expanded form, the pilot role of ATP sphere, a research company which has operated successfully from ATP’s Innsbruck Headquarters since 2007. ATP sphere merged with ATP Innsbruck in 2016. One aspect of the former ATP sphere which will continue strongly is “sphere by ATP”, a product brand for special projects and designs in such areas as corporate, villa and furniture design and the use of new materials and technologies etc.
