BIM 2 IndiLight

ATP presents a research project at the Alpbach Forum

Alpbach, 23rd August 2018 – This autumn, the “BIM2IndiLight” competence center in which ATP is a participant is starting work as one of four consortia from business and research established to work on innovative digital technologies. The EFRE K-Regio project was presented to the public today at the Technology Brunch of the European Forum Alpbach.

The architect Martin Lukasser, ATP associate partner, spoke about the opportunities offered by digitalization in integrated design processes: “We will work here for a number of years together with the university and lighting experts in order to integrate the sustainable control of daylight and artificial lighting into projects at an early stage. As integrated designers we are able to develop individual and optimized lighting solutions with the help of Building Information Modeling (BIM).” This demand for the digital planning of energy-efficient lighting has become particularly intense in densification projects and the development of new urban quarters as well as in the design of new office buildings.

K-Regio BIM2IndiLight: digital lighting design for the protection of the climate
In the new EFRE K-Regio project BIM2IndiLight ATP architects engineers (Innsbruck) are working with the Unit for Energy Efficient Building of the University of Innsbruck and the Tyrolean companies Bartenbach GmbH and Hella Sonnen- und Wetterschutztechnik GmbH. “If we succeed in integrating simulations and lighting design calculations into the BIM software models of the integrated building process then we will save large amounts of energy, protect the climate and use individual solutions to improve the quality of living and working in buildings” reports project leader Rainer Pfluger from the University of Innsbruck before adding that: “this close cooperation with the participating companies will enable us to tailor the resulting data models to the specific needs of the sector.”
