Housing for the elderly

The retirement home in the heart of Berikon is completed and ready for occupation

Berikon, 25.03.2017 – The Medical Center, the first phase of the Belano Berikon “Zu Hause” project, has been operating fully for a year. We were recently joined by the owners, the municipality and future residents to open the retirement home under a sunny sky and with musical accompaniment.

The celebration was marked by an open day. After brief speeches by representatives of the client and the local council visitors were invited to have a look around and see the quality of the new spaces for themselves. The guests were then able to share their experiences over refreshments.

“It was a successful party – both for our design team and for the client and future users” reported Michael Gräfensteiner, CEO of ATP Zurich. “The project is a milestone for the region and was built in line with the wishes of the local people. This makes me even more delighted that the building has been so well received.”

The ensemble has been particularly highly praised for its architectural quality and level of urban integration into the surroundings. The partial commercial use of the ground floor and the publically accessible Medical Center establish a functional connection with the heart of the village. The retirement home itself has space for 35 apartments. These meet all the requirements of modern design and the needs of senior citizens while such additional facilities as the communal spaces, cafeteria, and fitness and crafts rooms promote self-sufficient elderly living.
