ATP Frankfurt

10 years after Novotny Mähner Ass. (N+M), the next generation takes stock of a successful decade.

Frankfurt, 2nd February 2014 – The traditional Frankfurt architectural office which has helped to shape the “Mainhattan” skyline, has completed its journey to becoming a fully-fledged branch office of one of Europe’s leading architectural and engineering companies.

This was announced by the architect Dipl.-Ing. Ulf Bambach, who has led the architectural office since 2003 as he reported that the name of the company had been changed from ATP N+M to ATP Frankfurt: “After five busy years as a full member of the ATP Group in which we were able to integrally design excellent buildings to the highest standards, we think that it is time for our company name to also reflect this successful development.”

In 2004, as head of N+M, Bambach and his young team navigated the change of generation from the “signature office” of two authority figures of the Frankfurt architecture scene, the architects Professor Fritz Novotny and Arthur Mähner. The significant change of course was successful. In 2007, with the wealth of experience of the older generation in its pocket, N+M went into alliance with ATP architects engineers with the office based in Offenbach a. Main becoming the Frankfurt branch of ATP, while retaining the red N+M cube in its logo in acknowledgement of its rich past.

As part of its strategic repositioning as an integrated design office, the company restructured itself by introducing engineering expertise into the design teams and broadening its scope of services. In 2009, Ulf Bambach was elected the first German partner in ATP’s top management team and prepared ATP N+M to become a full member of the ATP Group and to offer integrated design to ATP standards. “During this time we set the newly restructured office back on track and increased the number of employees from 25 to the current 70”, says Bambach, taking stock. “With this final change of name to ATP Frankfurt, this year marks the conclusion of the process of integrating the traditional architectural office N+M into the ATP Group.”

In addition to the construction of high-rise and office buildings, ATP Frankfurt now covers all forms of commercial real estate as well as retail, industrial and research buildings. An additional area in which the office has a Europe-wide reputation is the health sector. The integration of the hospital design specialists APF in 2013 led to the establishment of the separate Frankfurt-based design company ATP health. Completed buildings and current projects include the KOMM multifunctional center in Offenbach (2009), in which the company is also based, the restructuring of Deutsche Bank, “Unter den Linden”, Berlin, the Lufthansa Training and Conference Center, Seeheim, the general refurbishment of the University Clinic, Mannheim and Westpfalz Klinikum, Kaiserslautern, Feltre Hospital, Tappeiner Hospital in Meran and the City Hospital in Esch-sur-Alzette in Luxembourg. Projects currently on the drawing board include the inner city project Eichplatz Jena, revitalization projects in downtown Frankfurt, diverse retail buildings, an administration complex for BASF, the main Mercedes premises in Frankfurt / Offenbach and a research building for IFAM (Fraunhofer Gesellschaft).
