Ingolstadt: please leave the train!

The IN-TOWER will give Ingolstadt's North Station a powerful new silhouette

Ingolstadt, September 2014 – In the future, railway travelers will know that they are arriving in Ingolstadt when they catch sight of a tower which draws attention not just with its height but also with its powerful form. The design of the 16-story tower with a base containing shops and restaurants brought ATP Munich victory in a developer competition.

The main design elements of the 50-meter-high tower - the balconies – create a lively and dynamic appearance. The uniform reinforced concrete parapets lend the building a sculptural character which is emphasized by the shadowing effect of the cantilevered elements.

The residential units come in a range of sizes – from small apartments to generous four-room homes - and can be realized in an open “Loft Style” or a “Classic Style” with walls and doors. The commercial spaces can also be flexibly divided and are suitable for a variety of retail and restaurant uses.

In urban design terms, the 16-story tower acts as a link between the new station building and the “Glacis” – the green belt that surrounds the old town.
