AVL Tech Center

Ground-breaking ceremony: Testing and engineering center for the automobile industry

Bietigheim-Bissingen, 31st October 2014 – ATP Frankfurt is designing a technology center with workshops and offices for the automobile industry - the new tech center for the motor specialists AVL. An official event has now been held to mark the ground-breaking ceremony for the project in the presence of the CEO of AVL Helmut List. According to List, “our intention is to successfully and sustainably realize the project in order to be an innovative, competent and reliable development partner for our clients”. Completion is planned for 2016.

“ATP has many years’ experience of designing for the automobile industry. This is why we are especially delighted that here we have the opportunity to develop and realize, together with AVL, such a forward-looking building and test facility”, explained Andreas Salamon, authorized signatory and leader of the automobile department at ATP Frankfurt. The Overall Project Leader added, “as integrated designers, the perfect cooperation of our architects, structural and mechanical & electrical engineers and site supervisors puts us in a position to integrally design and realize such a modern, complex and, at the same time, energy efficient technology center.”

The testing and engineering center, which meets the latest standards for both equipment and efficiency, will be a development and testing center for motors, power plants and entire vehicles. It will incorporate an emissions all-wheel roller test station, an NVH all-wheel roller test station, an NVH motor test station, three drive train test stations und eight motor test stations. The total area of 20,000 square meters will also contain car and motor assembly equipment, workshops, laboratories, stores and offices.

AVL is the global leader in the development, simulation and testing of drive systems (hybrid, combustion engines, gears, electrical motors, batteries and software) for cars and trucks.
