PLANDATA opens a training centre in Innsbruck
ATP has been successively establishing workplaces for specially trained “BIM modellers” at all its offices since 2007. These are responsible for transferring the solutions developed by architects and engineers into a complex, virtual data model which can then be further, cooperatively developed. In practice, BIM modellers are hard to find: one of the reasons that some are now trained in an authorised Autodesk Training Centre operated by our subsidiary PLANDATA at ATPs main Innsbruck office.
How does integrated design with BIM work?
In an object-based system, a virtual model of the design idea is created. This allows the input from all design partners to be incorporated into a unified building concept from day one of the design process. Building processes interact without any information being lost and all disciplines develop and add to the building until it is complete. The intelligent behaviour of building elements under BIM means that the model is constantly consistent and up to date – regardless of where and by whom changes are made. Design partners and executing companies then use the model as a source for all required applications – models, drawings or lists of building elements, visualisations, sections or plans.
clean and green
Integrally designed by ATP N+M Frankfurt, the new corporate headquarters of Tönnies in Rheda-Wiedenbrück, Nordrhein-Westfalen is notable for its clear, reduced architectural language and the sustainable nature of its constructional approach.
It marks the entrance to the approximately 40 hectare company complex. The choice of materials and the detailing of the façades underline the relationship with the location and the surroundings while expressing the various, different functions. The building is - functionally and conceptually - highly complex, meeting demands for both state-of-the-art building technology and the saving of resources.

Nomination for the State Prize for the Most Family Friendly Company
Vienna, 15th May 2012 – During the course of an official ceremony at Studio 44, the Minister for the Economy and the Family, Reinhold Mitterlehner, presented the “Nomination for the State Prize for the Most Family Friendly Company 2012” to the Innsbruck headquarters of the ATP Group. The distinction goes to companies with family-sensitive personnel policies and who make it possible to combine family and career.
Of the 85 entries for the 2012 State Prize, the Innsbruck office of ATP was one of three nominated in its category. ATP had already been one of the best placed companies in the Tirol state competition in 2011. According to architect Robert Kelca, Managing Director of ATP Innsbruck, “we see ourselves as obliged to support our employees in a variety of ways. ATP Innsbruck is the seed out of which the family friendly approach of the entire ATP Group – which is part of the reason for our success as integrated designers - has developed. The professional and private concerns of every member of the team are taken seriously, which creates a working environment in which one feels good and enjoys ones job. The loyalty, sense of belonging and long-term commitment of many members of the ATP family is impressive.”
ATP has set itself the target of not only supporting the existing proportion of women in the areas of administration and architecture but of increasing to around a quarter the currently very low proportion of women in technical areas – especially in management positions. The Innsbruck office of the ATP Group currently has around 160 employees of whom 50 are women. Among many other things, ATP Innsbruck is home to the much-loved children´s day centre “ATPünktchen”, its own fitness club “ATP Health”, which is open to the whole family, offers training courses with childcare and flexible working times and supports the return of mothers after maternity leave.
In his capacity as chairman of the IG Lebenszyklus (the building life cycle interest group), ATP CEO Christoph M. Achammer is head of the organisation’s newly established “design” working group.
Sustainable building through integrated design has been the core competence of ATP Architects and Engineers for more than 30 years. This experience should now flow into the working groups. Six teams will develop ground rules in the areas of design, construction, financing and operation set against the background of a life cycle model.
This will offer the opportunity to discuss concrete measures for guaranteeing quality and cost assurance for buildings through the use of cooperative, use-based, ecological and life cycle-optimised approaches.
Founded in 2011, the interest group is principally focused on the development of a new life-cycle model for the construction and operation of sustainable buildings. The IG Lebenszyklus Hochbau offers a platform for the necessary know-how and functions as a point of contact for the construction and real estate industry.
Additional Managing Directors in Munich and Vienna
The current Managing Directors/Architecture have seen their management teams strengthened with the appointment of a Managing Director/Construction Technology. Both double-strength managing director teams thus cover the areas of architecture, engineering and execution, following the example of the Innsbruck office which has long featured the same strategy at the heart of its successful integrated design approach. The Managing Directors/ Construction Technology have a particular responsibility for managing employees in the areas of structural engineering (TWP), mechanical and electrical engineering (TGA), site supervision (ÖBA), controlling and risk management.
The new Managing Directors of the two offices:
ATP Munich: Gerd Maurer, Managing Director together with architect Thomas Mattesich
ATP Vienna: Wolfgang Wildauer, Managing Director together with architect Horst Reiner
Dipl.-Ing. Wolfgang Wildauer, *1961
Managing Director/ Construction Technology ATP Architects and Engineers, Vienna
Wolfgang Wildauer studied architecture at the TU Vienna and joined ATP Architects and Engineers Vienna in 1992. Since 1999 he has led his own architecture group and he was appointed an associate partner in 2001. He was the responsible project leader for such projects as the Chemistry and Biology Research Building for Boehringer Ingelheim in Vienna and the KBC Computer Centre in Hungary in cooperation with the building services engineers of SAP Arcadis. He is currently responsible for the construction and revitalisation of the residential and care home IWP Liebhartstal II on Vienna’s Wilhelminenberg, the development of the Plus Energie building for the aspern IQ Technology Centre near Vienna and a nuclear laboratory in Seibersdorf.
In Vienna it was possible to fill the new managing director position internally. Wolfgang Wildauer brings to the job many years of project experience together with an intimate knowledge of ATPs integrated design process.
