Joint Venture in Moscow
ATP Architects and Engineers started the New Year by entering into a Joint Venture with TLP Tsimailo Lyashenko & Partners, a leading Moscow architectural office. The objective of the cooperation is to strengthen the presence of ATP and TLP in the CEE Region and to work together in an integrated design process to create innovative, intelligent buildings of sustainable quality.
ATP-CEO Christoph Achammer: “Russia is one of Europe’s most interesting markets. In order to add breadth to the depth of our service offering we have decided to establish a joint company with our long-time local partner, a successful young Moscow architectural office with first-class local expertise. This will allow us to offer all phases of the HOAI in all design areas simultaneously and to come a major step closer to our target of extending the reach of our integrated design services as far as Russia.”

2 new partners are named
Since the start of 2012 the ATP group is represented by nine partners. Alfred Wegmann, head of the Zurich office, ATP kfp and Thomas Mattesich, Managing Director of ATP Munich have been welcomed into the partnership.
ATP kfp Zürich - formerly known as kfp architekten ag - has been winning competitions for the design of residential and office buildings in the Zurich area since 1988 and was integrated under Alfred Wegmann into the ATP group in 2010 after a two year “get-to-know-you” phase. Wegmann was head of the building department in the headquarters of UBS between 1981 and 2000. As ATP kfp, the office is continuing its track record of success in residential projects as well as in the fields of industry and hospital design.
ATP München became known in 2002 as winner of the first prize in the international competition for the new head office of the Süddeutsche Zeitung. Today the Munich office is, alongside Frankfurt, the second ATP office in Germany and has been led by Thomas Mattesich since 2008. The Tyrolean architect returned to ATP to take up this challenge after seven years working internationally for ECE and he has been responsible for, among other things, the ATP-design of the Munich urban development project "Schwabinger Tor". ATP Munich is also very active in the automobile industry and is currently working for MAN and Daimler.

Research “Timber - Material of the Future”
Since early 2011 ATP sphere has been home to the TIMBER CHAIR, a research position in the field of innovative timber building, established by ATP Architects and Engineers. It is many years since we in Innsbruck - in the heart of Austrian timberland - started to work intensively with this fascinating material, which can be so intelligently used for not just design but also technical, ecological and many other reasons. This competence should now be supported and shared with the rest of the ATP group. Two current examples of ATP’s successful use of timber:
1st prize in the invited competition for the Hotel am Kurpark, a wellness lifestyle resort in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany
the 6 hectare timber roof of G3, a shopping centre in Vienna which is currently under construction and is the largest current timber-based building project in Europe.
ATP under the top ten retail designers worldwide
We are delighted to have received a top rating again in 2012: In the "BD World Architecture annual survey of the top global practices" the British industry magazine BD-online has put ATP Architects and Engineers in 3rd place in the CEE/SEE region and 4th place in Western Europe (the global 36th position remains unchanged since 2011). In the global sector ranking ATP’s 5th position in the retail sector makes it the only European office in the top 10. In the industrial sector ATP is rated 4th.
In the Baunetz-Ranking we remain 4th in the Commercial/Industrial sector.
A propos retail: This year will see the opening of 8 shopping centres designed by ATP, including two in Austria, one each in Slovenia and Croatia and four in Germany.
ATP supports the building of the Orlandovzi Children’s Day centre in Sofia/Bulgaria.
The “Sveti Konstantin” Youth and Social centre is part of the legendary “Concordia” founded by Pater Georg Sporschill SJ in 1992. In the words of Pater Markus Inama SJ, Sofia, “We help young people at the margins of society to help themselves and offer them security and a home. This work ranges from streetwork and meeting basic needs to a mother and child centre, various residential projects and the organisation of professional training places.”
Next year, things should be taken a step further. On the edge of the city’s largest poor district a day centre for the early support of pre-school children is to be built. “The earlier one can convince the parents to encourage their children and send them to school the more that we can do for these children” said Inama.
We wish every success to this courageous and future-oriented project!
