EXPO REAL Munich

EXPO REAL Munich

ATP Architects and Engineers were amongst the exhibitors at EXPO REAL, the 14th international trade fair for commercial real estate and investment.

Four exclusive events at the ATP stand brought together external and in-house experts in the area of “Sustainable Building” for discussions and presentations on both the theoretical and - with illustrations from live projects - very concrete level. Moderating the discussions, ATP CEO Professor Christoph M. Achammer did not miss the opportunity to offer an unconventional insight into a range of issues.

After shedding light on the extraordinary ambition of all those involved in building the "first and last ecological shopping centre" (der Standard), the G3 Shopping Resort in Gerasdorf near Vienna which is notable for, amongst other things, its extensive resource-saving measures and pioneering technical approach (it is currently the largest timber construction project in Europe), the head of ATP Vienna Horst Reiner and Managing Director of ATP sustain Michael Haugeneder talked about the exciting commission to build the aspern IQ Technology Centre. This is the first plot of Vienna’s largest current urban development centre, the Seestadt Aspern, which is being built on a former airfield and setting an example for subsequent developments by being built to Plus Energy standards, meaning that it will, seen globally, generate more energy than it consumes.

The discussion between project manager Norbert Preuß and Albert Heinermann of the Jost Hurler group, which is developing a whole new urban district for Munich in the shape of the Schwabinger Tor project showed not only that such projects are no longer realisable without the use of integrated design but also that that the level of cooperation of all those involved in executing complex urban projects can still be optimised. ATP is designing the base building which links all nine above ground buildings and which is responsible for generating a quarter of the energy required by the complex. Thomas Mattesich, Managing Director of ATP Munich described the functioning, the advantages and the challenges of an integrated design process which brings together our own internal multidisciplinary teams with external project management partners and the client.

Decked out in the ATP colours of red, grey and white the ATP Stand then became the host for the international presentation of an Austrian Initiative for which, in the words of ÖGNI President Philipp Kaufmann, “the time is ripe". The IG Lebenszyklus Hochbau is an interest group which promotes innovative cooperation and procurement models in the construction process while pushing for the equal consideration of the ecological, economic and social dimensions of sustainability in the public consciousness and, especially , in the building process. The life cycle of a building must be addressed taking all three aspects into account while the life-cycle building costs of a building can be kept as low as possible by using an informed integrated design approach. ATP is a founding member of the IG Lebenszyklus Hochbau.

ATP Architects and Engineers marked the end of EXPO REAL by inviting partners, colleagues, friends and media representatives to the traditional ATPéro, a get together with good wine and pasta at the ATP Stand.

ATP Architects and Engineers receives the Real Estate Brand Award 2010 in the category architecture, recognising its position as one of Austria’s most valuable real estate brands.

Architect Horst Reiner, ATP Partner and Managing Director of ATP Vienna, received the prize with thanks and noted that “the integrated design practised by ATP for more than 30 years has created a corporate culture which is to a certain extent unique amongst architectural offices in the German-speaking areas of Europe. It ensures that the architects and engineers of ATP are engaged in a constant process of questioning, reinventing and changing. This is how we see the corporate office of the future.” More...

G3 Shopping Resort Gerasdorf

The "Eco Shopping Centre" (Der Standard).

Austria’s largest timber building project is going up just to the north of Vienna. 710 columns measuring up to 20m in height carry the dramatic swinging six hectare roof construction of the G3 Shopping Resort, which nestles in the hilly landscape of the Weinviertel. Austria’s largest shopping centre which is being built in a single phase (opening early 2012) and successfully underwent an environmental impact assessment is being built in a highly environmentally conscious manner. In early June the G3 Shopping Resort Gerasdorf was named a klima:aktiv mobil project partner at the klima:aktiv mobil network conference in Vienna.
