2010-07-23 SOS Children´s Village opens in Ukraine
The first SOS Children´s Village in Ukraine has been opened. Up to 91 children who for have to live without their families for different reasons will find a new home here.
Helmut Kutin, President of SOS Children´s Villages opened the village at Brovary, near to Kiev, by handing over a symbolic key to two-year-old Vitaliy, the youngest SOS child in the new village. Amongst the guests of honour was also the Ukrainian boxing champion Vitali Klitschko.
After more than four years of construction the first SOS families moved into their new homes in December 2009. 42 boys and girls are currently living in the village and more than twice this number should be occupying the 13 family houses before the end of the year.
“We are delighted to support SOS Children´s Villages and wish the families a happy future in their new homes”, explained Christoph M. Achammer, CEO of ATP Architects and Engineers.
