2010-07-07 Laying of the Foundation Stone of the ZTC Rijeka
The laying of the foundation stone represents the start of the construction of the shopping centre, which is set out like a roofed promenade with a spectacular view.
The building on the edge of the centre of Rijeka has a total of six stories. The elongated volume runs alongside the cliff-top road and is partly built into the rocks. The three retail levels are set out as a promenade which invites the visitor to wander amongst the shops. The glazed lift set into the façade of the building offers a spectacular panorama of Kvarner bay and the Mediterranean landscape.
On the occasion of the laying of the foundation stone the mayor, Vojko Obersnel, said that “despite twelve long years of preparation the ZTC will now be realised and this represents the key first step in the revitalization of the entire city district.”
