Fieberbrunn/Tyrol, 11th December 2009 – The “Hotel on the Ski-Slope” has opened to coincide with the beginning of the winter season. Winner of the 1st prize in a 2006 competition, the half arch of the building volume acts as an extension of the natural topography of the landscape and its form and materials seek to further this integration into its surroundings.
Located directly on the ski slope in the Tyrol winter resort of Fieberbrunn, the 144 bed 4-star resort is opening after a construction time of 18 months. The 2 or 3 storeys at the points at which the ends of the building merge into the slope and the 5 storeys (above ground) at its centre surround a patio. As the central circulation element, this guarantees an excellent visual connection between inside and outside and an uninterrupted view southwards onto the slope. “Sustainability and energy saving concepts were amongst the most important design criteria” explained the project leader Hannes Achammer of ATP Vienna.
