ReSOURCE Supporting Sustainable Development (ICSC) Atrio, Villach, A

The ATRIO shopping centre in Villach, Austria, was awarded a European Shopping Centre Commendation and at the same time received the “ReSource” award for supporting sustainable development. The prizes for the best shopping centres in Europe were awarded as part of the annual congress of the International Council of Shopping Centres (ICSC) in Amsterdam.

The price „ReSource“ was awarded to SES Spar European Shopping Centres, Austria for its two centres ATRIO, Villach and Q19, Einkaufsquartier Döbling, Vienna. ATRIO – built on “glowing piles” - gains energy from geothermal sources as a means of annually saving 500 tonnes of CO2 emissions in comparison with a more conventional building.
